2022 – A YEAR OF THRILLS!

2022 has been a year of first and includes many thrills. I was thrilled to learn that my first short story was a finalist for two prestigious mystery awards. The Vermeer Conspiracy, was a finalist for both the Edgar Award and the Anthony Award. The Edgar Award is an award named after Edgar Allen Poe and is awarded by Mystery Writers of America (MWA). The Anthony Award is an award named after Anthony Boucher, one of the founders of Mystery Writers of America, and is given out at Bouchercon the World Mystery Convention. What a thrill! I made it to the finals and am honored to find that my short story was so well received.

Just when I thought 2022 couldn’t get any better. I received one further honor. I was asked to be the Cozy Guest of Honor for Bouchercon 2024. WOW! What a thrill. I’m still pinching myself.

Unlike the Edgar Awards, which is always in New York City, or Malice Domestic which is always held in the Baltimore area. Bouchercon is in a different city each year. The past few years the conference was virtual due to the pandemic, but this year the conference was back in person in Minneapolis, MN. Next year, the conference will be in San Diego, CA. And, in 2024, Bouchercon is coming to the South! Bouchercon 2024 will be in Nashville, TN.

So, if you like crime fiction and want to meet some of your favorite authors, come on down to the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee for Bouchercon 2024. I’ll be there!
