Rosemary & Thyme
I stumbled across this series last year when I saw the DVDs at my local used bookstore. It sounded good, but I didn’t want to invest money into a series I knew nothing about. So, I did what any twenty-first century mystery lover would do, I Googled it. I was able to watch the entire series online (thank God for the Internet). Later, my local PBS station began airing the series, which I have been recording. I’ll probably end up buying the series too (don’t judge) after all, it’s a mystery and you can never have too many.
Rosemary & Thyme is a British cozy mystery series featuring two gardening sleuths. Rosemary Boxer (Felicity Kendall) has a doctorate in plant pathology and lectures at the University of Malmesbury in applied horticulture. However she is sacked from her university job in the first episode. Laura Thyme (Pam Ferris) is an avid gardener, daughter of a farmer, and a former police constable. After twenty-seven years of marriage she finds herself facing a divorce and an unsettled future. The women meet while staying at the same hotel and bond while researching diseased trees at the home of Rosemary’s ill friend. When Laura’s friend dies suddenly and Rosemary’s friend has a suspicious accident, the gardening duo digs up clues that help them figure out whodunit. The pair’s shared love of gardening leads them to create a partnership that takes them to gardens across England and Europe where they unearth clues and catch criminals.
