“Snappy dialogue, a well-drawn supporting cast and an irresistible canine companion all add delicious flavor. Gulp this book down or savor it, but consuming it will guarantee a sustained sugar high.” NY Times review of Two Parts Sugar, One Part Murder, Aug. 22, 2022.

I am an Agatha, Anthony, Edgar, and Next Generation Award finalist with over 28 traditionally published cozy mysteries. I am also an adjunct professor in the Writing Popular Fiction MFA program at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. I love working with new authors to brainstorm ideas and help them develop those ideas into completed manuscripts. So, I’ve decided to open up my services beyond the MFA program to any serious writers who dream of publishing a book by providing book coaching and developmental assessment.

DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENT

I will read the full manuscript and provide comments, plus a separate editorial letter with in depth feedback on character development, plot, setting, pacing, and story structure. You will also receive a 1 hour video call to walk through the assessment, brainstorm ideas, and discuss next steps.

PRICING: $0.025/word

Example: 80,000 words x 0.025/word = $2,000

BOOK COACHING

I will read a synopsis and 50 pages of your manuscript. Then, I will schedule (2) 1 hour video calls. On the first call, I will brainstorm ideas to help with problem areas. After you complete the revisions, you can resubmit the same 50 pages, and I will schedule another 1-hour video call to discuss the changes.

PRICING: $500.00

BOOK DEVELOPMENT & REVISION BOOK COACHING COMBO PACKAGE

This package combines the developmental assessment with (6) one-on-one review and feedback sessions. I will read the full manuscript and provide a detailed developmental editorial letter, and comments within your manuscript at a reduced rate of $0.02/word. From there, I will review up to 50 pages of your revised manuscript on a regularly scheduled basis, and provide feedback on the revisions along with a one hour video call at the rate of $150/hour to discuss the revisions, brainstorm ideas, answer questions, and plan the next steps.

PRICING: $0.02/word + $150/hour

Example: 80,000 words x 0.02/word + (6) 1-hour video calls @ $150/hour = $2,500

So, if this looks like something you would be interested in, let’s talk. If you’re looking for a line editor to correct your grammar, make sure your manuscript fits the Chicago Manuscript of Style, and fix punctuation, I’m not the right person for you, although I can recommend some great freelance line editors.
